Greetings Citizens of Hungaria and welcome to the January edition of The Hungaria Times.
Here in “The Mythic Land Of Shuffling Hungaria”, there’s news… and then there’s NEWS! Continuing to blather on about incremental professional success or spinning to soften the daily blows of professional battle losses gets a little tedious to find different variations to write about, and probably equally tedious for you to read about.
Priorities, Peeparoos…. Priorities.
So it is with great pleasure and joy in the extreme to announce the really BIG news: Our extended family has a brand new addition! Over the past nine months or so, the principal violinist and concertmaster of The People’s Republic Of Shuffling Hungaria String Quartet (and one of my nearest and dearest friends ) Liz Ingersoll ( and her lovin’ hubby Jeff ), successfully made and gave birth to a real live HUMAN BABY on December 29th, 2024!
Let’s all give new arrival Irene Agneta Ingersoll a warm and hearty Hungarian welcome!

When I became aware that Liz was with child, I was thrilled beyond belief. Not only did I immediately project about becoming the “soon to be” Irene’s “soon to be” favorite Crazy Uncle Georgie, I also started to nefariously concoct future plans to recruit and induct Baby Irene into the People’s Republic Of Shuffling Hungaria’s “soon to be” Community Choir as soon as possible.
By the time Irene can walk and talk? SOMEBODY has gotta sing the soprano parts, because none of the rest of us are going to be able to hit the high notes anymore. Welcome to the herd, kid!
But in all seriousness, working with Liz these past few years in the attempt to integrate a string quartet as a new sonic addition to The Shuffling Hungarian musical palette in our recordings and videos has not only been a real highlight for me professionally as a songwriter and arranger, but more importantly one of my major recent life highlights on a personal level. Every time she walks into the room, she lights it (and me) up. I’m so grateful for her musical contributions but I’m humbled to call her my friend.
I’m so excited for Mommy Liz and Big Daddy Jeff Ingersoll as they embark on their new journey of parenthood. My enthusiasm, as they say, CANNOT BE CONTAINED!

DECEMBER WAS AN INTERESTING MONTH…
It included me leaving my secret undisclosed hideout, The Womb Room Of Hungaria and actually playing music in public… in front of real people. ( Will wonders never cease?! )
I did a few guest shots. The first was at The Salt City Waltz show ( where I got to perform my biannual tribute of Dr. John’s classic version of his tune “Such A Night” from The Band’s iconic film, “The Last Waltz”). It’s an honor to be asked to contribute to this preeminent “cast of thousands style” show that showcases the absolute creme de la creme of artists in the 315 and Central NY area.
Next up was a couple of weeks later being a special ghost with the DEAD TO THE CORE band at a monthly Sunday event that they put on at The 443 Social Club and Lounge. Tix for the afternoon matinee sold out quickly, so an evening second show was added and they “live streamed” the whole shebang. To infer that there were clouds of Little Georgie shaman rust dust permeating the air (along with the overpowering aroma of stage fright ) for those two sold out shows would be gross understatement.
But that doesn’t negate the fact that I ventured out of my self-imposed exile and did them… that’s a big step for me, the “Musical Recluse from Syracuse”. It got me thinking that once I finally can successfully cycle through our single release schedule, finish, package, manufacture the planned “Compendium Of Unruly Caterwauling” videos, vinyls and cd’s and maybe hire out third party, independent promotional services? It might be time to hit the road. “Dead To The Core” actually gave “Come To Jesus” its first ever live public performance. That “LIVE” bug, once it bites, is hard to get out of my system. So stay tuned.
Anybody that wants to participate in the traveling version of The Shuffling Hungarian Band, Support Staff or Organization? Hop on board. The streets are paved with peanut shells and the odd assortment of magic beans.

AND IN OTHER NEWS…
Our latest single “COME TO JESUS”, is beginning to be added to Roots, Blues, and Americana playlists on terrestrial and internet radio stations and shows world wide. It’s now been out in the field and commercially available on digital streaming and distribution platforms since 12/20/24, and its been picked up by more independent presenters and playlists than I was frankly expecting.
Like the little engine that believed that it actually could, we keep chugging along (with your help, support, and encourment) to audaciously believe that we actually can.

Hasta Lumbago,

Georgie
